Introducing Spiros Salvanos, the founder of SAL YACHTS Shipping, Yachting & Tourist Enterprises: Having lived for ten years in Germany and France, where he studied Business Administration, Commerce & Foreign Languages, he set up a Travel & Shipping Agency in Corfu Port in 1971. Then Spiros became a Ship & Yacht Agent to commercial ships & crewed charter yachts, entering the Yachting world. In 1976 he acquired his first crewed Sailing Charter Yachts, the classic Schooners: AGENA & ODYSSEUS, establishing at the same time SAL YACHTS, building up in in the next years a fleet of mainly bare boat charter yachts with length from 30 to 52 feet. S. Salvanos was not only a Licensed Open Seas Yachtsman for both Sailing & Motor Yachts but also an intrepid Aeronaut, an FAA-USA & Greek Licensed Private Pilot (VFR/IFR) from 1985 and one of the first private aircraft owners in Greece. In fact, he brought by himself his last aircraft PIPER ARROW 24 from USA in the decade of nineties flying over USA, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Germany, Italy arcing over the Atlantic close to the Arctic circle before reaching Corfu Greece.
His aircrafts facilitated his charter yacht fleet and clients by flying frequently from Corfu to Preveza, Zakynthos & Cephalonia transferring charterers or providing them with technical support, if needed. His company, SAL YACHTS, became one from the pioneers in Yacht Chartering in Greece. S. Salvanos, expanded his business in the field of Yacht Sales in 2014 and SAL YACHTS became exclusive DE VALK BV Yacht Broker in 2019. https://www.devalk.nl/en/offices/corfu.html. SAL YACHTS in 2019 became partner of YACHTBID B.V, an auction company that cooperates with the largest auction platform of Europe, the BVA. https://yachtbid.com/greece-office/ Spiros Salvanos passed away in February 2020. His daughter Andriana Salvanou and his wife Sofia Ilia-Salvanou have taken over the Yachting business. Sofia Ilia-Salvanou is at present the head of SAL YACHTS Shipping, Yachting & Tourist Enterprises.
